Persevere and Become Successful - Introduction

PREVIOUS NEXT

Perseverance...holding to a course of action or purpose without giving up. Sounds rather simple, doesn't it? But as you probably already know it isn't as easy as it sounds.

According to the health club industry the first 90 days of membership are the most critical when looking toward long-term success with exercise. Most people will drop out during this time period. By the end of the first year of membership, statistics show that 50% of people will quit exercising. To make matters worse I'll bet that percentage is higher for people who exercise at home. Not too promising, is it?

The good news is that you don't have to be one of those statistics. You can be the exception.

I hope that as you read through the chapters of this book you've learned ways to overcome some of the barriers that may have been stalling your efforts to begin or be consistent with an exercise program. But now we come to the barrier that can be the most difficult to overcome. That is the barrier of staying consistent. Persevering through the difficult times. All the other chapters in this book are meaningless unless you can learn to persevere.
