Should I Hire a Personal Trainer?: 3. Experience

PREVIOUS NEXT

Although I think that technical knowledge and educational background are extremely important factors in choosing a personal trainer, experience cannot be overlooked. A trainer with good experience is one who has had a number of clients over a period of time. There is no substitute for practical training experience.

A trainer's experience will tell you if he or she has a proven track record. After all, you don't want to hire a trainer that isn't providing results. Looking at their experience may also tell you the type of clients they feel comfortable with. For example, the trainer may be more interested in working with athletes than those seeking weight loss. Find a trainer that has experience working with people who have the same needs as you.
